Field service is a global industry. Plumbers in Istanbul, electricians in Madrid, cleaners in Sao Paulo, and HVAC technicians in Berlin all face the same daily challenges: managing jobs, sending invoices, and keeping customers happy. With our recently launched invoicing system, multilingual PDF invoices are now part of this experience. But most field service apps force them to work in English.
Starting today, Workslip is available in seven languages. The entire app — every screen, every button, every notification, and every PDF document — works in your preferred language.
Supported Languages
- English — the default for new users in English-speaking regions
- Turkish (Turkce) — full support including currency formatting for Turkish Lira
- Spanish (Espanol) — Latin American and European Spanish
- French (Francais) — covering France, Belgium, Switzerland, and French-speaking markets
- German (Deutsch) — for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
- Portuguese (Portugues) — Brazilian Portuguese
- Italian (Italiano) — for Italy and Italian-speaking Switzerland
How Language Detection Works
When you first open Workslip, the app reads your device language setting and automatically selects the matching language. If your phone is set to Spanish, Workslip appears in Spanish from the first screen. No manual configuration needed.
You can also change the language at any time from Settings if you prefer a different language than your device default.
If you serve customers who speak a different language than you, remember that your PDF invoices and job receipts are generated in your app language. This is useful for tradespeople who work in multilingual communities.
What Gets Translated
This is not a surface-level translation where only the menu items change. Every piece of text in the app has been translated:
App Interface
- All navigation tabs, buttons, and labels
- Form fields and placeholder text
- Error messages and confirmation dialogs
- Settings screens and profile setup
- Onboarding and tutorial screens
Documents and PDFs
- Job receipts — all labels, headers, and field names
- Invoices — line item headers, tax labels, payment terms, totals
- Quotes — description fields, pricing tables, and terms
Notifications and Emails
- Email templates for signup confirmation and password reset
- Invoice and receipt emails sent to customers
Why This Matters for Your Business
Serve Diverse Markets
Many tradespeople work in cities with diverse populations. A plumber in Miami might serve customers who speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Having your business tools in your own language means less friction in your daily workflow, even if you communicate with customers in their language.
Reduce Errors
Working in a language that is not your primary tongue increases the chance of mistakes. Misreading a field label, entering data in the wrong place, or misunderstanding a setting can lead to billing errors or missed appointments. Using the app in your native language eliminates that cognitive overhead.
Professional Customer Documents
When your invoices and receipts are generated in the local language, they feel more professional to your customers. A German customer receiving an invoice with German labels and Euro formatting is more likely to pay promptly than one puzzling over English terminology.
All seven languages support full PDF generation including proper date formatting, number formatting, and currency symbols. A Turkish invoice shows dates as DD.MM.YYYY and uses the TRY symbol, while a US English invoice shows MM/DD/YYYY and USD.
Currency Support Across Languages
Language support goes hand-in-hand with currency support. Workslip supports 16 currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, TRY, AUD, CAD, BRL, MXN, and more. When you set up your profile, Workslip automatically suggests the currency that matches your region.
For example, a user with a Turkish device language sees Turkish Lira (TRY) as the default currency during profile setup. A user in Germany sees Euro (EUR). You can always change this in Settings if your billing currency differs from your local one.
Behind the Scenes
The W3C Internationalization Activity provides guidelines that inform how software should handle multilingual content. Translating a field service app is more complex than running text through a translation tool. Industry-specific terms like "job receipt," "line items," "SLA compliance," and "quote acceptance" need careful localization to match what tradespeople actually say in each language.
We worked with native speakers in each language who have experience in the trades industry. Every translation was reviewed for accuracy, natural phrasing, and consistency across the app. The result is an app that feels native in every supported language, not a clumsy translation.
How to Switch Languages
- Open Workslip and go to Settings
- Your current language is shown in the profile section
- Change your device language in your phone's system settings
- Reopen Workslip — the app instantly switches to the new language
All your data remains exactly the same. Only the interface language and document generation language change.
More Languages Coming
Seven languages cover a large portion of the global field service market, but we are not stopping here. Explore all current capabilities on our features page. We are actively evaluating Arabic, Dutch, Polish, and Japanese based on user demand. If your language is not yet supported, let us know — user requests directly influence our localization roadmap.
